Final decisions will be made within the week for the next cycle of the “Energy Efficiency at Home III” program, which is expected to be announced in September 2020. At the same time, the total amount of funding to be allocated for the implementation of this program will be finalized. It appears that the eligibility criteria and benefits for interested participants will remain the same as in previous Energy Efficiency at Home programs.
Preparations are in full swing for the launch of the new Energy Efficiency at Home program, following a meeting last Monday between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostis Hatzidakis.
The guidance provided aims at maximizing the impact of the Energy Efficiency at Home for residences program. There is also a strong emphasis on programs targeting the energy upgrade of public and industrial buildings (the “Electra” program), which is scheduled to be launched in the upcoming June.
It is noted that Greece’s national obligation for energy and climate targets is to achieve a 38% reduction in final energy consumption by 2030.
In order to meet this target, more than 500,000 homes will undergo energy upgrades by 2030, and the annual funding available for this purpose is expected to quadruple. Currently, these funds amount to approximately €500 million per year, indicating that the Energy Efficiency at Home program is here to stay.
